Have you ever tried to imagine what the knitwear of an avant garde 1930s atelier might look like? Probably not. That’s rather niche.
Think graphic micro stripes & intarsia detailing, think cleverly constructed & draped sleeves, & all of this worked into the most sensuous & striking of silhouettes.
Add to this ultrafine, silky creped yarns to give the knitwear an almost eveningwear-like feel & drape, & add handmade glass buttons to bring a touch of luxury.
I imagine that a workshop such as this would create pieces that are timeless & fresh even by today’s standards, & taking inspiration from the most unique & obscure of sources, the result would be something unique & new.
This is exactly what Combelle sets out to do.
